I haven't written anything real...

I haven't written anything real hear in a week to ten days. I have played with word prompts and written some very bad short fiction. Last night I included the list of words that I used in my little exercise so you would get an idea of where I start and how I get to some of the crazy places I go. Sometimes I will write paragraphs or sentences with each different word and build up from there and then other times I will just take the words and "fly by the seat of my pants" making up crazy paragraphs as I go along. I realize that it is boring to some of you but I never claimed to be excessively smart or witty, I just do what I enjoy and have fun with it.

I did get my 50K plus words in for JulNoWriMo and was glad to do so. My novel part was hard to write after a point and I have decided I don't like the format I am using. Time to deconstruct and start again. I think I will like the new format better. It feels more comfortable.

I have written two more coffee essays. I am enjoying waxing nostalgic about coffee. The show up every Friday on Facebook at "Daily Shot of Coffee" and on
dailyshotofcoffee.com I love writing them and getting something published every week. I just need to get my fanny buns in gear and get more written for publication even if it isn't anything that is "great shakes."

As I write my short fiction (such as it is) I am finding that fiction really isn't my forte, personal essays are. I love fiction. I can write dialogue or I can write action but making them intersect is very hard for me. I can tell a story but I can't show one but then I have always said I am a "storyteller." There is a difference in being a fiction writer and a storyteller. Some people are both, I fear I am not one of those people.

This does not mean that I am giving up. Mercy, no...I intend to inflict my bad writing on the world for many years to come. I am enjoying it so. LOL!!!

Part of the reason I have not been writing is that I have been lost in Jane Austen. I have watched a 6 hour mini-series of "Pride and Prejudice" at least five times. I have also watched "Mansfield Park" and "Persuasion." I have seen the 1940 version of "Pride and Prejudice" with Greer Garson and Sir Laurence Olivier. I have also watched "Rebecca." Further, I have watched odd scraps of other films and bits of "Jane Eyre" here and there too. I have always loved movies and have found myself happily immersed in "merry olde England."

I hope this post finds you well and that your writing endeavors have gone well. I have enjoyed what I have written even if it has been very bad.

I don't find your writing boring. And witty is not everything. Often, witty lowers itself to meanspiritedness and I don't like that at all. I don't understand how you can use work prompts because they would drive me nuts, but hey, that's just me. I enjoy reading what you write, especially I like your description of the characters. They all seem to be just a little quirky. I like quirky. :)

I've never seen the P&P with Greer Garson. I may have to check that out!

P&P with Greer Garson
be prepared for romantic comedy versus drama...the last half of the movie is much better than the first half. You have been advised. LOL!!
