NaBloWriMo...here I come!!!!

NaBloWriMo starts today October 1st. It is a writing exercise that requires you to write in your blog EVERY DAY for the entire month. The purpose is to get you used to daily writing practice. I used to write daily and got in at LEAST 1K words a day. Then I crapped out. I don't know what all happened but my writing became sporadic. Maybe this is the jumpstart that I need to get ready for NaNoWriMo. It was suggested as such by Lorca Damon http://lorcadamon.com who is also going to be doing NaBloWriMo. She seems as enthusiastic about it as I feel and yet, here we are or at least here I am DOING IT.

I don't really have that much to blog about an you all are going to get tired of hearing about the little dog, grocery shopping, washing dishes, cooking, eating, eBay and writing woes. It could get ugly but then again maybe I will have more comedic adventures like I did with the garbage disposal and things will be entertaining instead. We shall see what we shall see, won't we.

I am excited about tuning up for NaNoWriMo. I don't really have a story idea but I am sure I will by November. (It says here in fine print.) I always LOVE the idea of NaNoWriMo but only won once in 2009 and I am still editing that story.

An interesting aside, I wrote in my 2009 NaNoWriMo novel, "As If A Transitive Verb," about the death of a friend of mine. Well, I just found out this week that the friend died. I am still very sad about it but his health was so poor that I was writing about his impending death two years ago so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. I found out about his death in the oddest way. He had tended a feral cat colony for more than 20 years. He loved the cats and the cats depended on him for food and care. I read a post from a cat rescue group about  a cat being trapped from that colony and I thought that the cat people were "dissing" JG because he was not caring for the cats as well as he once had but it turned out that they were relocating the colony because JG died. I am glad I support the cat rescue group because they took care of JG's cats when he could no longer care for them. I know he is happy in his celestial awareness that the cats are cared for.

Well, that is all I can think of for today. I will be writing again tomorrow, so on and so forth. It will be a long two months with lots of writing. At least during NaBloWriMo I can write about what ever comes to my little pea brain. That is a gift as far as I am concerned.

Ciao!

Good luck!
I really hope this indeed gets you writing regularly again. I think that daily thing is the only way I could be remotely productive (and I'm very excited about my NaNoWriMo project--I've had the idea stewing since February). I'm sorry to hear about your friend. It is a little easier to be philosophical when someone has been sick so long, but it still is sad. Glad his cats are being cared for!

Re: Good luck!
Thanks Hart, I appreciate your comment. I am contemplating some NaNoWriMo ideas but none are really firmed up. We will see what we will see.

I agree about daily practice being the only way to really get your writing in gear. I was doing a GREAT job for months but got sick and it all went to heck. I hope to get back in gear and stay there.

Thank you again,

Ardee-ann
